“Determined” Stitched Monotype 18″ x 18″ Healing from a broken left radius in February I no longer had the full use of both of my hands. This forced me to slow down and think about my creative process. The first month I was in a cast and restricted. My right hand was overcompensating for my left. But I realized from all the years of printing I had a lot more raw material to work with. I had everything I needed. I am excited to announce that I have created 10 new pieces and will have 14 works in this exhibit.
Like pieces from a puzzle I incorporated my own previously printed readymades that I found in my studio. I constructed new ideas with the use of scissors, exacto blades, inks, brushes, printed paper and fabric, glue and a sewing machine. While I wasn’t very mobile I was more thoughtful and less distracted. Life as I knew it had slowed down. So I followed my instincts and adventured inward to make unique abstract spaces that stem from nature.
The show at the Landing Gallery will run May 2nd to June 1st in Rockland Maine, with new works by Gallery Artists.. The opening is on Friday, May 2nd, from 5 to 8 pm. Next to the Farnsworth Art Museum. 8 Elm St.
